McCain calls Americans “my fellow prisoners.”

I don’t think this means anything except that McCain probably has PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) from his days when he was in a POW camp and had to make propaganda tapes for the other prisoners in the camp (I’m not saying that what McCain did in the POW camp was bad — he was probably doing it for survival, and who knows what ANY of us would do in that situation, but this is probably why he called Americans “my fellow prisoners”).
I actually feel bad for the old guy. I also recently read somewhere that John McCain drinks an energy drink that those with Alzheimer’s also drink. I read it here: “McCain taking “energy” supplement also used for Alzheimer’s and dementia“. I don’t know if it’s true or not (all though it does provide a source), and even if it IS true, I don’t know if this supplement is used with people who don’t have dementia and Alzheimer’s as well, and just happens to be an option for the ones who suffer with those diseases to just try.
But McCain is old… Maybe too old to be in office?
Either way. I feel very bad for him. I feel bad especially at the end when he’s smiling proudly when the crowd is chanting… That man, regardless of whether we agree with his politics or not, DID serve his country… I don’t want him in office, but I did see him as totally human here, as opposed to before. This poor man.
He shouldn’t be president. He needs to live out his days in a stress free environment.
I see him as being used. He’s THIS old, and most likely being used. Probably with good intentions in his heart too. This poor guy… This is heart breaking. This poor old man is damaged. And probably being just as much lied to and manipulated as the American people are by his handlers… And then probably laughed at behind his back by these same people, while he’s being very sincere and wanting to help the United States of America (in his own wrong, jaded way). …
… Or maybe not.
But did you guys know McCain adopted a daughter from Bangladesh? Can he be such a bad guy? I mean, I wrote a post about him from the first Presidential Debate concerning something he said about investigating 9/11: I really only have one question about the Presidential Debate tonight.
I feel TERRIBLE about it now. How do we know John McCain didn’t try to investigate what went wrong on 9/11 with pure, good intentions? I’m not saying he thought 9/11 was an inside job (I also make this clear in my other post I just linked to), but perhaps he really did think SOMETHING went wrong within our government to allow such a “blunder” and “mistake” — and it wasn’t to make himself look politically good. Could this man just be severely misguided, old, and damaged? Could he just be a puppet on the string without knowing it…?
I can’t express how badly I feel for John McCain right now.

I feel bad for him, too… But my first beef with him that makes me relentless in my forgiveness is the choice of Sarah Palin. I mean, COME ON. My second beef is just that he seems so untouched by these issues, which sounds absurd of me to say. He seems like he isn’t connected with the real problems, like he is all fluff-and-stuff.
My fiance and I have decided that if he wins the presidential election we are leaving the country. I do not doubt that many Americans will do the same.
I agree with you. He’s very fluff-and-stuff. And very unconnected with all of us.
I just don’t hate him for it now.
Last time I checked, in order to truly understand people as a whole, or what someone is going through, you usually have to go through whatever it is they ARE going through.
He has millions of his own, his wife makes over six million a year from anheiser-busch, he owns 7 houses in 3 different states (to which he didn’t even know how many he actually owned; that’s a joke.)
Oh, and incase you’re wondering? He hasn’t known what it’s like to struggle to pay the bills, he hasn’t known what it’s like to have a foreclosure on his homes, he hasn’t known what it’s like to wonder if he’ll make ends meat, or be able to pay for any of his luxuries.
And if you think for even a moment, that during his life at ANY age, he ever had any form of financial hardship? You’re dead wrong. His father was a US navy Admiral, and you want to know how much an Admiral makes a year? I could show you some exact figures, even past figures for when his father served, but suffice to say… it’s about 120,000-140,000 a year (possibly more, as every two years of experience there’s a pay increase, which is exponentially larger as you go higher in rank); so even so, he’s never had to want for anything.
And to think he’s a good man? Haha. That’s a great joke. So this corporate-loving elitist who cheated on his wife who waited for him the years he was away as a POW camp, actually is worth your respect, lets not forget your pity? Please.
Let’s not forget the clear manipulation of the easily-swayed populace with the pandering of Governor Sarah Palin, who’s under investigation in her own state. Let’s also not forget how he’s practically aiding hate-mobs at these Republican rallies.
I do not care what your political affiliation is — Republican, Democrat, Independent; how on earth are you going to let people sit there and call a US Senator (Barack Obama) a terrorist; much less the threats of physical harm.
So, after this long ramble, and I had a few more points, but I’ll cut it short:
I have no sympathy for John McCain, I don’t think he’s a poor old man, I don’t think he’s being used. However, I truly, sincerely, feel sorry for anyone who actually believes in him, or that he’s the person to elect for President.
And lastly, but not least. Bear in mind, I respect any soldier, marine, sailor, or airman; hell, I serve the country as is, so of course I respect them, but to make one thing very clear. Military service is meant to instill values, and to name a few? Honesty, Integrity, Personal Courage — where has McCain exemplified any of these?
That’s all for now. Peace.
I do feel bad that he was a prisoner of war. That must have been unimaginably horrible. He does deserve respect for serving his country.
On the other hand he still deserves to not be liked for being an idiot. Him being old doesn’t make him weak and easily controlled. It should be the exact opposite. he’s been around long enough to know how they work. He makes these bad choices because he’s greedy and out of touch with reality. He considers someone who makes under five million dollars a year “middle class”. He continues to support Bush’s tax cuts for the rich and drool over oil. It isn’t because of party loyalty either. The man has no problem being a “Maverick” against his party. In my opinion the choices he makes are simply not respectable.
He IS really really detached from the rest of us and out of touch with reality. I’m not even going to lie about that. But wisdom and age do not correlate. Old people can be vulnerable too. Sometimes even MORE so. Maybe he is to certain things and certain manipulations. Maybe he really does think in some sick way he’s doing good. No one can survive a POW camp and come out fully whole mentally…
But yeah, I don’t like his choices either or his politics. I just from now on will simply choose to talk about him a little more respectfully, regardless if I’m talking about disagreeing with him or not.
Why did you not allow my last comment on this topic? I will assume it was out of sympathy for him, since everything I said is true (and I can prove it.)
I know it’s your blog and you can allow or not allow whatever you want, but, when have you ever tried to stop someone’s opinion from being heard, or when have you been selective about letting people speak?
Strange.
Hey BD! I never GOT your last comment on this post. I’m sorry. I’d never not allow your comment!
Or anyone elses for that matter.
Oh weird.
That sucks, it was a friggen huge post too, I wrote quite a bit. Life goes on.
I have to go save the reef now, I’m sure you’ll understand.
That sucks that it was a huge post and it got lost… but of course I understand.
Saving the wonderful reef > reading this blog.
I don’t agree with his politics, but I respect and admire the fact that he was a prisoner of war and had the strength and courage to keep on fighting.
I don’t see him as “bad” and Obama as “good”, because that’s just media oversimplification. The media can take anything and spin it anyway they like, just to brainwash society into fulfilling an agenda, whether political or otherwise. You can’t really trust what they say or the perceptions they try to instill upon us. Take it with a grain of salt when they say “McCain is ________”, “Obama is __________”.
With my mini-rant out of the way, part of me does feel a bit sorry for his slip-up, but maybe he gets into a particular state of mind in order to rally with the crowds. Maybe that’s the approach he uses to motivate himself. Just another viewpoint to think about
I’m glad SOMEONE agrees with me about the media, and how it could spin anything. After all, didn’t it sell us a fake and phony war in Iraq?
do you know your blog is listed on this blackhat site? blackhatbootcamp.net/listofwordpressblogs/
While I admire his servitude to our country, I have no sympathy for him. The man has so many homes he can’t rightly recall an exact number. He may have gone through traumatic things, but that’s the past. Is he capable of leading our country? I don’t think he is.
I think the slip is a prelude to our own society becoming prisoners right in front of our eyes, yet not knowing it was going to happen. We’re progressing closer and closer to socialism and everyone is clueless.
You could be absolutely right. I’ve heard a lot of people think that way about his slip up — how it is indeed a prelude, and how it’s directed at us more so than we think.
