Some posts about Walmart.
November 23rd, 2008 | 424 wordcountA few months ago I made a blog post about Walmart.
It was one of my first blog posts and it wasn’t very good. It didn’t really tell people the main details or horror about Walmart. This is why I want to show you all two blog posts made by two friends of mine.
The first one I’m going to show you is by my friend Michael called “It’s hard to tell someone they’re not really benefiting from most corporation”
He makes mention of important things concerning Walmart, about how you really aren’t saving money with Walmart, and how your money is going into the pockets of the Walmart employees anyway because Walmart doesn’t take care of their employees and pays them cheap.
Here is another disturbing point - not just about Walmart, but about how our “saving money” mentality is disgusting in the United States:
And I quote:
“How would you like to know THOUSANDS of children died to make the Sony PS3. Sony told the African countries that they would pay double for an essential mineral needed to produce ALL electronic products. 80% of the worlds resource for it (can’t remember the name for the life of me at the moment) is in the Congo alone (which is currently in civil war. Pick up a real newspaper.) So, Sony would pay double, and children worked themselves literally to DEATH trying to get it, to feed themselves & their families. THOUSANDS died of starvation, malnutrition and mining accidents. All for the Playstation 3.
Sucks to know that, huh?”
Yes, it does suck to know that.
For more of that post go here. He also goes into the cheaper quality Walmart sells of the name brands you think you’re saving money on at Walmart.
Also check out the comments on that post, especially the one that starts off with “nirvana said…”. She worked at Walmart.
Which brings me to the next post I want to show you. It’s by “nirvana”, AKA Angela.
As I just mentioned, she worked for Walmart, and she has a LOT of things to say about it in her two posts “Walmart Pt 1 (Why I Don’t Shop At Walmart)” and “Walmart Pt 2 (The Lower Prices Myth)”.
She talks about how bad the management is at Walmart - and since she worked at Walmart she should know - and how Walmart treats their employees like garbage. In the second post she goes more into how Walmart doesn’t have a cheaper value.
These three posts are definitely a good read. Gather your knowledge up and learn about the lies you are being fed daily.

‘Nuff said…
It’s good to see someone else who is for Free Market Capitalism be against Walmart.
Do you think people whose incomes are really low would care about any of this as long as they have more spending power? The blog about taxes going towards welfare of the employees at walmart maybe true but heres the bottom line; at the end of the year will your spending on taxes be the same or change as a result of not shopping at walmart? What you have to note is that the choice is always their. Quality for a price. Honda or a Kia. How often do you guys wear $4 t-shirts out or to work? Most of them will be used at home. and heck if you dont want the color to run buy white, thats what i always do.
From a business prespective walmarts done a wonderful job. Basically they have the power to tell their distributors at what price they are willing to pay for their products and sell them real competitively.
Heres the bottom line, if you can buy a product say an electronic item $10-$20 less than the regular price would you?
Quality for a price? But Walmart’s selection mostly ISN’T quality. It’s lower quality a lot of the time. And buy white so that the colors don’t run? What if I like different colors? What if I’m sick of white? Why can’t Walmart make a shirt with different colors where the colors don’t run.
But I see what you’re saying, don’t think that I don’t. You’re getting most things slightly cheaper at Walmart so of COURSE people will want to go there in droves.
As for Walmart doing good from a business perspective - Walmart knows how to benefit Walmart. That’s it.
My point isn’t as you have said it.
I guess I should have been more direct: If we didn’t have institutions that paid their employees so poorly that they had to turn to government assistance for certain aspects of their life, and people were paid what they are worth (yes corporations would have to take a pay cut, but that’s the fucking deal? They’re still going to make huge profits) then we wouldn’t need welfare systems to the degree that mass portions of our paycheck go to it.
Wal-Mart is simply an example of it, not the end all problem. The problem isn’t Wal-Mart alone.
Oh I totally agree with what you just said. And yeah, I guess I did misunderstand your point. Sorry.
But I totally get it and I agree!
I wasn’t directing that at you cetta! =)
Oppose the evil wal-mart, oppose them! Shun! Shun the non-believers!
