Let the internet censorship begin PT 1.
November 28th, 2008 | 305 wordcountRemember a while back how I said that Lawrence Lessig, a law professor from Stanford University and founder of Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society, was told by Richard Clarke that sooner or later there is going to be an internet Patriot Act implemented for all of us, and that one is made up already just ready to spring into action. Then later on remember how I posted something that could be the pretenses for the i-Patriot Act - and how ridiculous it was?
Well, looks like in Italy they won’t be waiting for the big possible internet event before their version of an i-Patriot Act begins.
Carlo Ruta was not only ordered to take his old site down but also faced paying a 250 Euro fine or going to prison for up to 2 years.
And what was Carlo Rutas big internet offense? According to Theregister.co.uk, this mans big offense was “the crime of “stampa clandestina” – or publishing a “clandestine” newspaper – in respect of his blog. The judge ruled that since the blog had a headline, that made it an online newspaper, and brought it within the law’s remit.”
The article goes onto suggest that Carlo Rutas blog was singled out because it had a lot of detailed research about politics and the mafia - which is enough for me to suspect foul play in this case.
Point is: The law doesn’t like what you put out and the law will shoot you down.
Something tells me that the law doesn’t like a lot of what people put up, and it’s only a matter of time before this spreads.
Actually there is a lot of other points I can and want to make with this article, but I’m actually EXHAUSTED right now that I’m sure you can all figure them out yourself. LOL.
Here is part 2.

… I’m too stoned right now to even be able to formulate my thoughts on this. I’m appalled, to say the least.
Me too.
Too stoned, or too appalled? Or both?
LOL Appalled. At the time I made that comment I was so tired that I felt stoned.
