Regardless of your political beliefs, whether you support the war or not, I think that most of us are in agreement that we need to support the troops. I feel especially strongly about this because I have a friend that’s going over to Iraq in May who feels the exact same way I do about the war. That let’s me know that many of them do not even want to be there. Regardless of whether they do or not, however, is a moot point. They could be the biggest Bush and McCain backer — wanting to stay in Iraq for 100 years if need be — and I’d still support them. Just because I believe they’re ignorant doesn’t mean their heart isn’t in the right place. It also doesn’t mean that they don’t have a family that is missing them this holiday season. Many of us saw on the news that little girl who wished to Santa for her father to come home from Iraq, who she hadn’t seen in a long time, and then suddenly her father was sent home to her. Not many families have this luxury.

This is why I’m talking about The Sears Heroes at Home program. God Bless Our Troops and they’re poor families that miss them — and they that miss their families that joined up to the army only to protect the United States. They are sacrificing everyday to be over there. I think we can all sacrifice a little this year too. After all, what is the holiday season really about if not that?
